WWE Hall of Famer Bill Goldberg claims his Twitter account was hacked and he did not send a series of tweets directed at Donald Trump and his family, including those saying such things as:
Why have you been treating me and my wife you dick head just because you’re the president doesn’t mean you can make threats using your new found power we should go into the ring together no secret service just you and me.
Followed by:
I challange you to a fist fight you spatastic sh*t head ill f**king kill you.
There were other tweets directed at Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner that were equally vulgar.
Goldberg had appeared on Trump’s ‘Celebrity Apprentice’ series. However, the two are no longer friends. Goldberg and his team have been in contact with the Secret Service for assistance with the hacked Twitter account.
WHAT’S THE TAKEAWAY?
Twitter is working to improve account security and validation, however it’s not enough to ensure every message is authentic. Social media account owners need to monitor happenings on their own accounts to guard against hacking.
Social Media Security Safeguards include:
- Set up rules that alert you about a post that is made on your account.
- Change your password regularly.
- Do not share your password with others or put it in an unprotected document.
- Do regular security checks like reviewing your privacy settings, linked accounts and data connection preferences.
